ધર્મ માને છે:

કાયદો માને છે:
intention is judged by the action.

સત્ય પ્રિય પણ નથી અને અપ્રિય પણ નથી, માનવીના મનની સ્થિતિ પ્રમાણે તેને એ પ્રિય-અપ્રિય લાગે છે.

સત્ય બોલવું પણ અપ્રિય સત્ય ન બોલવું. 

ધર્મ એટલે જે સંજોગોમાં, જે સ્થાને, જે સમયે માનવીએ જે ફરજ બજાવવાની હોય તેનું નામ ધર્મ કહી શકાય. યુદ્ધના મેદાન પર એક સૈનિકનો ધર્મ શત્રુની હિંસા કરવાનો હોય છે, સમાજમાં નહીં. રણસંગ્રામ પર વધુ ને વધુ શત્રુને હણી નાખનારને આપણે વધુ ને વધુ માનસન્માન આપીએ છીએ- વીરચક્ર, પરમવીરચક્ર વગેરે, પરંતુ સમાજમાં કોઈનું ખૂન કરવામાં આવે તો ફાંસી સુધીની સજા કરવામાં આવે છે.

કાકાસાહેબ કાલેલકર કહી ગયા કે ભૂતકાળના કિનારે બેસીને છબછબિયાં કરાય, તેમાં તરવાનું ન હોય.

 જેને ભૂતકાળ મીઠો લાગે છે તેનો વર્તમાન કડવો હોવાનો.

આપણી પાસે છે જે એની આપણે કદર કરતા નથી. જ્યાં સુધી આપણી પાસેથી એ વસ્તુ છીનવાઈ ન જાય ત્યાં સુધી એનું મૂલ્ય સમજાતું નથી

ધર્મના પ્રચારકો મનુષ્ય સ્વભાવની બે ખાસિયતોને કહો કે નબળાઈઓને ધર્મ સાથે જોડી દે છે. લાલચ અને બીક. આટલું આટલું કરશો તો આવું ફળ મળશે. આ લાલચ. અને આટલું આટલું નહીં કરો તો જીવન આવું આવું થઈ જશે. આ બીક.ધર્મના આચરણમાંથી જે વ્યક્તિ આ બેઉની બાદબાકી કરી શકે એના માટે જીવન ઘણું સરળ બની જાય 

સત્કાર્યોના બદલાની આશા રાખવી, ધર્મ કાર્ય કરીને કશું પ્રાપ્ત કરવાની અપેક્ષા રાખવી એ પાપ છે. તેં જે કાંઈ કર્યું છે તે ભૂલી જા. જો તું આ નહીં ભૂલે તો તેના બોજા હેઠળ કચડાઈ જઈશ. માત્ર પાપનો બોજો આપણને કચડે છે એવું નથી. સત્કાર્યોનો બોજ પણ એટલો ભારે છે તે ઘંટીના પડની જેમ તને ગળામાં વળગી રહેશે. સારાં કાર્યોની કીર્તિ, પ્રશંસા અને તેના મોહમાંથી છટકવાનું મુશ્કેલ છે. આમાં જે કોઈ મેળવવાની આશા રાખે છે તે ગુમાવે છે.
